Inexpensive Flatlay Props Every Blogger Needs

As a blogger and online business owner, flatlays are a necessity of life. Whether you want to create a beautiful pin, an Insta-worthy image or a powerful product presentation that makes the sell, flatlays are versatile and awesome and learning to take your own is a great skill that can save you a small fortune in the long run (and possibly even boost your income).

Recently I was surprised to learn that many bloggers feel intimidated by the thought of investing in flatlay props. Apparently, there’s this common misconception that flatlay props are incredibly expensive.

But let me tell you a little secret. Fabulous flatlay photography doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.

I challenge you to have a look around. I’m absolutely sure you’ll quickly come to the conclusion that your home is already a goldmine for flatlay props. Everyday items like sweaters, jewelry, office supplies, Apple products, makeup, food, and plants can all help you create the most awesome flatlays.

And guess what? When you have a business that’s built around you there’s a good chance that many of the items you already own are on brand as well.

I encourage you to start building your own go-to flatlay prop collection. Make an inventory of the things you already have and asses if there are any new items you’d like to add now or in the future.

For example…

  • You might want to invest in some pretty fake flowers, because running to the market to get some fresh ones every time you want to shoot a flatlay might be a colossal waste of your time and an unnecessary business expense.
  • Confetti make any photo look festive on a budget.
  • Some fun adhesive paper is great for shaking things up and it’s way easier on the wallet than a new dining room table.

Well, you get the idea, right? So without further ado, here are some of my favorite flatlay props that you might want add to your collection to take your flatlays to a whole new level. Oh, and the best part? Most of them are truly inexpensive. Hurray!
